Group of Seven G7 foreign ministers are discussing their response to Iran’s massive attack on Israel last weekend. Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko is likely to urge G7 ministers to call on both Iran and Israel to exercise restraint.
G-7 foreign ministers are meeting at Capri, an island in southern Italy. On Thursday they began a session focusing on the Middle East situation, with the Israel-Iran conflict high on the agenda.
The United States, Germany and some other G7 countries have already stated that they plan to impose new sanctions on Iran, so member countries are expected to show their response to the sanctions.
aacording to NHK, It is believed that Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa expressed deep concern about the Iranian attack, and denouncing Iran for further escalating the situation.
It is also believed that Kamikawa is urging the G7 ministerial meeting to call on both Iran and Israel to exercise restraint.
With Israel is still weighing how to respond to the Iranian direct attack on Israel, the G7 foreign ministerial meeting is hoping to send a unified message aimed at preventing a further escalation of hostilities.
With regard to the Gaza situation, the G7 foreign ministers are likely to condemn the terrorist attack by Hamas and other groups, and confirm their call for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in order to improve the humanitarian crisis there.
