Former Union Minister Akhilesh Das Gupta died of a massive heart attack in Lucknow today morning. According to family members, Dr Das fell unconscious at his residence last night and was immediately rushed to the King George Medical University.
Recently, he had joined the Congress. He was also the member of the Rajya Sabha for three terms from 1996 to 2014. He was also the Mayor of Lucknow from 1993 to 1996. He was the Union Minister of State for Steel in the first UPA regime between 2006-08.
