Former Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who is facing corruption charges, was stopped from leaving the country last night by immigration officials at the Lahore airport after his name appeared in the no-fly list.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency, Mr Gilani was to board a flight for South Korea via Bangkok to attend a conference. The Agency officials told Mr Gilani that his name was placed on the blacklist on the orders from the Interior Ministry.
Later, Mr Gilani said there was no point in placing his name on the no-fly list, as he was not fleeing the country. Mr Gilani is facing several corruption cases.
