Flood situation continues to be grim as over 96 lakh people across 12 districts are reeling under the impact of flood. The death toll in flood has risen to 91. The state government has announced an ex gratia of four lakh rupees to the next of kin of each of the deceased.
Over 2 lakh 50 thousand people have been shifted to safer places. More than 340 relief camps have been set up in the affected areas and about one lakh people are taking shelter in these camps.
Relief and rescue operations are in full swing. Besides army jawans 37 teams of the National and State Disaster Response Force teams are carrying out rescue operations.
Two helicopters have also been pressed into service. Food packets are being airdropped in the affected areas. Rail traffic between Sitamarhi and Darbhanga has been stopped as railway tracks have been damaged.
