-assam-floodThere is no let up in flood situation in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. About 24 lakh people spread over 12 districts of Bihar are reeling under the impact of flood. Water level of river Sone is steadily increasing following discharge of five lakh cusec water from Indrapuri barrage.

According to central water commission water level of Ganga is decreasing at Patna but it is rising trend in Munger, Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon. Mahananda, Kamla Balan and Burhi Gandak are also flowing above danger mark.22 people have so far drowned in different parts of the flood affected areas. Nine hundred jawans of NDRF are carrying out rescue operation in flood affected areas.

Three water ambulance have also been pressed into service. Over one lakh people have been accommodated in different relief camps. About one hundred fifty cattle camps have also been set up.

The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh continues to be grim in eastern parts of state. According to central water commission ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Allahabad and Varanasi and other places. Ganga is flowing more than one meter above in Allahabad and Varanasi while in Ballia is flowing two meter above the danger mark. Flood situation continued to serious in eastern districts. Ganga and its tributaries continuing to swell in Allahabad ,Varanasi,and Ballia.

While Yamuna is also rising in Banda and Chitrakut. Hundred of villages of low line areas are still under water. Rescue and relief operations are also intensified. National Disaster Relief Force has also placed 19 teams in the flood affected areas. About 8lakh people are affected due to current flood crisis. Meanwhile district administration in Allahabad has ordered night patrolling on motor boats in flood affected areas because thousands of people left their homes for safer places.
