The first session of the newly constituted West Bengal Assembly began today. The state budget for 2021-22 is scheduled to be placed on 7th July.

The BJP legislative party is likely to raise issues like post-poll violence and fake vaccine camps which may lead to a stormy session. With 75 MLAs, BJP is the main opposition in the state assembly. Congress and the Left parties have no representation in the present House, though their alliance partner ISF has one MLA.
