Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said financial inclusion is at the core of the government’s focus and the Centre is working for the empowerment of people especially those belonging to backward classes. Speaking at a national conference of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs in New Delhi, Mr Modi said government want to create job-creators, not job-seekers.

He said Dalit icon B R Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution, but not many know that he was an accomplished economist too. Quoting Babasaheb PM said that industrialisation will give maximum benefit to our Dalit sisters and brothers. He said the government has also set up a venture capital fund to help people of backward classes.

Speaking on the occasion, Social Justice and Empowerment minister Thawarchand Ghelot said over 1.5 lakh Dalits were given skill development training last year. Mr Ghelot said government is doing its best in rehabilitation scheme for manual scavengers by giving them financial assistance to take up new vocations. Earlier, Prime minister also gave business excellence awards to first generation dalit entrepreneurs.
