Indian stock market benchmarks, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, ended in positive territory for the third consecutive session amid mixed global cues.
At close, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex inches 328 points or 0.45 percent higher, settling at 73,105. Meanwhile, NSE Nifty witnessed a gain of 114 points or 0.51 percent, closing at 22,218.
From the Sensex basket, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen and Toubro, JSW Steel, NTPC and Sun Pharma were among the major gainers.
In contrast, Nestle end, TCS and Axis Bank were among the biggest laggards.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Midcap sector gained 1.14 percent and the Smallcap index rose 1.79 percent.
In sectoral indices at the BSE, the Utilities sector jumped 2.8 percent, the Power sector gained 2.51 percent and the Industrials sector soared 2.40 percent. On the other hand, FMCG sector declined 0.36 and the Healthcare fell 0.08 percent.
