Admitting that suicide attacks by militants cannot be stopped as long as the neighbouring country Pakistan does not behave, Border Security Force Director General K K Sharma said on Wednesday that response from security forces was important in such cases.
Lauding the BSF personnel for quick and befitting response to fidayeen attack on BSF camp near Srinagar International Airport on Tuesday, he said the militant plan to target ammunition depot was foiled.
Talking to media after paying floral tributes to Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) BSF B K Yadav who was martyred in a fidayeen attack on 182 Batallion BSF camp at Humhama said as long as Pakistan will not behave, fidayeen would contains to infiltrate into this side.
All the three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were also killed while ASI was martyred and three BSF personnel were injured in the over 10-hour-long gun battle in camp. “We cannot stop fidayeen coming and attacking security force and other important installation,” Mr Sharma said adding, “But it depends upon our response.
Response of security forces was very important to foil such attack and neutralize the militant without causing collateral damage and harming our own forces. “Untill our friendly neighbour Pakistan does not believe, we will have to expect such attacks in future also.
” Similar views were expressed by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan that fidayeen attacks were taking place in the past and will continue since Pakistan is the neighbour. There are still six to seven fidayeen of JeM present in the valley. However, he said, we will get them soon adding we have identified Over Ground network of JeM who helped militant to reach Humhama on Tuesday. Mr Sharma said the militants were targeting arms and ammunition depot in the camp. However, alert personnel foiled their attempt and saved major attack which was an example of discipline, training and bravery of BSF.
