Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has been sent to five-day custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the excise policy case. The CBI had produced Sisodia before a court and sought his five-day custody, a day after arresting him in the excise policy scam case. During the hearing, the CBI claimed that the conspiracy was hatched in a very planned and secret manner.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who was produced before special judge M K Nagpal, claimed that there was no evidence against him and opposed the CBI’s plea for his remand.
Mr Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening after being interrogated by the agency for approximately eight hours.

The investigation in the Delhi excise policy case began last year after Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a CBI probe, citing discrepancies in it.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister is among the 15 accused, named in the FIR filed by the CBI. The FIR was lodged for alleged violation of rules and procedural lapses in the Excise policy.
