The European Union has deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to Nepal to observe upcoming parliamentary and provincial elections scheduled for 26 November and 7 December. The Mission has been deputed on an invitation of the Nepalese authorities.
According to a press release issued by the European Union a Core Team of 10 election analysts arrived at Kathmandu today. They will stay in Nepal until completion of the electoral process.Next week Core Team will be joined by 38 long-term observers.
The Mission will also cooperate with other international and domestic observation missions. Shortly after the completion of House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies’ elections, the mission will issue a preliminary statement of its findings.
The European Union had also deployed Election Observation Missions in 2008 and 2013 constituent assembly elections in Nepal.
