More than 64 per cent polling has been recorded in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election on Monday. 71 Parliamentary constituencies, spread across nine states went to polls in this phase.

Voting also took place in Kulgam district of Anantnag Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir.

Briefing media here, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, a large number of women and senior citizens came out to vote. He said, out of 543 Lok Sabha constituency, polls have been concluded in 373 constituencies so far.

Mr Sinha said, except minor incident, polling remain peaceful in this phase.

West Bengal recorded the highest 76.44 per cent voter turnout followed by Madhya Pradesh 65.77 per cent. Rajasthan registered 64.5 per cent, Jharkhand 63.39 per cent, Bihar 58.92 per cent, Uttar Pradesh 57.58 per cent and Maharashtra 58.23 per cent.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the polling percentage was 10.5 per cent. A total of 68 per cent voter turnout has been reported in Odisha where Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously.

Election Commission has seized unaccounted cash, illicit liquor, drugs, gold and freebies worth over 3274 crore rupees since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect.
