The Election Commission has reprimanded the Department of Revenue for the casual and trivial manner in which its advisory related to enforcement action was dealt with.

The Commission had advised all the enforcement agencies working under the administrative control of the Department that their actions should be absolutely neutral, impartial and non-discriminatory.

In its order, the poll panel expressed its deep sense of anguish about the casual and trivial manner in which the advisory has been responded by the Department of Revenue.

 

I-T Dept clarifies, it has not conducted any searches at premises of Jaydev Galla

The Income Tax Department yesterday clarified that it has not conducted any searches at the premises of TDP MP Jaydev Galla. In a statement, the CBDT said, yesterday’s search action in Vijaywada was at the premises of a cost accountant, Gurappa Naidu.

It said, it had received information on the toll-free-number that cash was kept at his residence, which was to be used in General Election.

During the recording of statement of Naidu, it was revealed that he was giving services to the TDP MP in his capacity as a cost accountant. The CBDT said, over 45 lakh rupees cash during the search, and the seized cash remained unexplained.
