The Election Commission of India will celebrate the 6th National Voters’ Day across the country on January 25. Theme for this year is Inclusive and Qualitative Participation. The National level function will be held in New Delhi. President Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chief Guest at the function.
Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi will release the book titled, Belief in the Ballot, and present the first copy to the President.
The President will give away Awards for Best Electoral Practices to Chief Electoral Officers, District Electoral Officers and other Officers involved in election management. Awards will also be given to Media Houses and Civil Society Organizations for best campaign in Voters’ Education and Awareness.
25th January is also the foundation day of the Commission, which came into being on this day in 1950. The National Voters’ Day is also utilized to spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process.
Election Commission will present a Tableau depicting the theme, Inclusive and Qualitative Participation, at the Republic Day parade at Rajpath, New Delhi.
