A team of Election Commission officials headed by Chief Election Commissioner A.K. Joti reached Ahmedabad this morning on a two day visit to Gujarat.
The team will review the ongoing preparations for the assembly elections in the state. It will hold meeting with political parties and listen to their inputs.
The team of EC officials will also hold a meeting with state police officers later this afternoon to review law and order situation.
On Sunday, the team will meet Chief Electoral Officer, Additional Director General of Police and the Chief Secretary and high officials of the state government.
Apart from this, the EC will also hold meetings with the central government officials. Campaigning is on in full swing in the state.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will address public meetings in Limbayat and Pandesara of Surat district Saturday evening.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani is addressing public meetings at Lathi, Gadhada and Rajkot of Saurashtra region while Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will address public meeting at Mundra in Kutch district in the evening.
Senior Congress leader and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia are also addressing several meetings.
