Senior AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswamy today sworn in as new chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao administered the oath to new chief minister. 31 ministers also took oath along with Palaniswami.
Earlier today Mr Edappadi K Palaniswami was invited to form the government by Governor Vidyasagar Rao. Mr Palaniswami, owing allegiance to the VK Sasikala camp in the AIADMK, was the state PWD Minister and the party headquarters secretary.
On invitation from the Governor, he called on him at Raj Bhavan today morning and reiterated his position that he enjoys the confidence of majority MLAs.
Later, an official release from the Raj Bhavan said, the Governor has accepted the letter that was submitted by Mr Palaniswamy on Tuesday conveying his election as the AIADMK Legislature Party. The release also says, the Governor has requested the chief minister designate to seek the vote of confidence of the Assembly within 15 days.
After receiving the Raj Bhavan communique, the chief minister designate Edappadi K. Palaniswamy rushed to the Poes Garden residence in Chennai. He is said to have had a huddle with the party’s newly appointed Deputy General Secretary, Mr T.T.V. Dinakaran there. They are reported to have discussed about the government formation.
