The festival of Dussehra is being celebrated in the national capital with great enthusiasm. In the evening, the programmes of burning of effigies of demon king Ravana, his brother Kumbhakaran and Meghnad have been organised at various places including Lal Quila Maidan, R K Puram and Dwarka.
This time effigies will be burnt without use of firecrackers. Delhi government has imposed a blanket ban on the sale and use of all types of firecrackers till 1st of January next year to curb air pollution. In view of it, several Ram Leela committees have decided not to use firecrackers to burn but they will use sound effects which will give the same feel. Apart from sound effects, some committees will also use some special light techniques which will make the effigy burning look more real.
