US President Donald Trump has formally accepted the re-nomination of the Republican Party as its presidential candidate for the November elections. In his acceptance speech from the South Lawns of the White House amidst cheers from his supporters last night, Mr Trump said, at no time before voters have faced a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies or two agendas

Mr Trump accepted the nomination on the last night of the Republican National Convention yesterday from the White House South Lawn. After walking to the podium alongside first lady Melania Trump, the US President said, he is proud of the extraordinary progress they have made over the last four years and brimming with confidence in the bright future, they will build for America over the next four years.

He said, in a new term as President, they will again build the greatest economy in history – quickly returning to full employment, soaring incomes, and record prosperity. He was introduced by his daughter Ivanka Trump who enumerated her father’s economic policies and COVID-19 measures.

Party’s delegates from across the country at Republican National Convention re-nominated Donald Trump as its presidential and Vice President Mike Pence as Vice-Presidential candidates.

Trump and Pence are being challenged by Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president Joe Biden and his running mate, Indian-origin senator Kamala Harris. 55-year old Harris has ed history by becoming the first African-American and Indian-origin person to be nominated as a Vice Presidential candidate by a major political party.
