The DMK chief M. Karunanidhi today appeared before the Principal Sessions Court in the Madras High Court complex, Chennai, in connection with a criminal defamation case filed by the Tamil Nadu Government. He quoted in his article in the party organ Murasoli, a news report published by the popular magazine Ananda Vikatan dated 25th November last criticising that the government was insensitive to the people’s needs.

The editor of Murasoli, Mr Selvam also appeared before the judge M. Aadhinaathan in the case today. The judge adjourned the case for further hearing to March 10th. Later, the 91-year old Mr Karunanidhi told newspersons, even the Supreme Court has recently expressed its reservations against the huge number of defamation cases being filed by the Tamil Nadu government. He said, the trend is not healthy, and added, justice will prevail.
