Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked the civil servants to bring about a positive change in the society for the benefit of the country. Addressing the 2013 batch of Indian Administrative Service officers in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said, actions of civil servants must be in tune with the vision for the country. He said, government’s strength lies in the strength of the society and what officers learn on the ground is very important.

Saying that the 2013 batch officers will be handling 1/5th districts of the country in the next 10 years, the Prime Minister said the experience will be the most crucial for them. Stating that diversity is India’s strength, he asked the officers to make the most of these 10 years to strengthen the foundations and change the fate of the nation. Mr Modi said, change comes by integrating the people not by tensions and struggles.

For the first time the 169 IAS officers of 2013 batch started their career as Assistant Secretaries in the Centre. They were assigned important desks related with policy and flagship programmes of the concerned ministries and departments.
