A dense fog has gripped North India and the temperature has come down. However, Indian Meteorological Department has clarified that cold wave condition is yet to come. Talking to Akashwani News, Senior Scientist at IMD, Dr. R. K. Jenamani said that Rajasthan Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are witnessing a thick layer of fog. He said that several airports in the region are witnessing low visibility.

IMD has forecast dense to very dense fog at a few places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh during next two days. It has forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep during next four days. Fog is also likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.  

Delhi also woke up to a dense layer of fog this morning. As of today, 14 trains arriving to Delhi are delayed. According to Delhi Airport officials, over 24 flights are facing delays in arrival and departure, and 12 flights got diverted due to the intense weather conditions.

The temperature in Delhi was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius earlier today. The India Meteorological Department has forecast mainly clear sky for the rest of the day. The overall Air Quality of Delhi NCR continues to be in the very poor category. According to Central Pollution Control Board, the city’s Air Quality Index was recorded 375 at 11 am today.
