In bid check, Covid-19 outbreak, the government of Delhi, Telangana and Bihar have announced a lockdown till 31st March and West Bengal till 27th. Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have announced lockdown of several districts.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a joint media briefing with Delhi LG Anil Baijal, said the national capital will be locked down from 6 a.m. tomorrow till the midnight of 31st March.
No public transport services including private buses, autos, e-rickshaws will be allowed during the lockdown period in Delhi and only 25 per cent of the DTC bus fleet will ply on city roads. All domestic flights into Delhi have also been banned from Monday till March 31. Mr Kejriwal said that Delhi’s borders will be sealed during lockdown but it will be ensured that people providing essential services do not face difficulties.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced the lockdown of the state in Hyderabad after a high level meeting. He said, the decision has been taken under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. The Chief Minister said 20 per cent of employees will be attending offices and all private entities will have to pay the salaries for their employees.
Bihar government has announced lock down throughout the state in view of COVID 19 outbreak. This will be effective with immediate effect till March 31. This decision was taken in a high level meeting which was chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
West Bengal Government has announced complete lockdown from 5 p.m. and will be in force till 27th midnight. Essential services have been kept out of the purview of this.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that 15 districts in the state would be under lockdown till 25th of March in wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak. These districts are Agra, Ghaziabad, Gautambuddh Nagar , Muradabad, Lakhimpurkhiri, Varanasi, Lucknow, Bareilly, Azamgarh, Kanpur, Meerut, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Gorakhpur and Saharanpur. These districts will be thoroughly sanitised. The Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation will remain completely closed from March 23 to 25. Inter-state connectivity of UP with other bordering states will remain completely shutdown.
Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has informed that nine districts with high COVID 19 Pandemic cases in the state will be under lock-down till March 31st.
