Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday inaugurated “Swad Maati Ka- स्वाद माटी का” a Food Festival dedicated to Ethnic Indian Cuisine & Earthen Pottery at Connaught Place.
LG said that it is a thoughtful initiative to promote eco friendly clay pottery against single use plastic, generate employment & help preserve our cultural & culinary heritage..
The food festival, which runs till August 21, is meant to highlight eco-friendly food and to encourage alternatives to single use plastics.
Whether it is an earthen tawa or an earthen pot, kulhads or plates are being displyed in the fair. Here an attempt has been made to send a message that how these earthen pots can become a weapon in the war against single-use plastic. From Haldiram to Chaioz, Kulhad Chai Wala, Saravana Bhawan, Khandani Pakoda, Jaleba, vendors of various famous and local food chains have come to Rajasthan and South Indian cuisines.
This is the first such festival in which none of the 19 items banned for single use plastic are being used. The food festival organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), vendors have been provided with free space and stalls on the condition of cooking and serving food in earthen pots.
