Max hospital in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh declared two-newborn twins dead and their bodies were handed over to parents, one newborn found alive by family later; Newborn and mother admitted to another hospital.

Delhi government has ordered an inquiry into Max Hospital medical negligence case in the city. In an incident, premature twins were allegedly declared dead by this private hospital and were handed in a polythene bag to their parents who realized that one of them is alive only when they were on way to perform the last rites.

The twins were born yesterday morning at Max Hospital Shalimar Bagh. City Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, he has also sought a report on shocking criminal negligence.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister J P Nadda has also asked Delhi government to look at the negligence case and take necessary action. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Nadda appealed to the states to adopt Clinical Establishments Act so that regulatory authorities are operative and can see working and functioning of private institutions.
