With four more deaths, the toll at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Pediatrics hospital, known as Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack has now mounted to 47. Meanwhile, a four-member team of the Union health ministry took stock of the situation at Sishu Bhavan yesterday in the wake of a number of infant deaths since 20th of this month.
The team led by Additional Secretary in the Union Health Ministry Arun Panda, made a detailed assessment of the infrastructure deficiencies. The team will submit a report to the Centre on how to improve the facilities.
