Bodies of four missing soldiers have been recovered from avalanche site in Gurez sector in Jammu and Kashmir. With this the toll has risen to 14 in the two avalanches that struck at Neeru village near Line of Control in Tulail tehsil of Gurez valley in Bandipora district in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Security sources said that the rescue operation was in progress amid most inhospitable condition and bad weather. More details are awaited.
Meanwhile, the latest spell of rains and snowfall has thrown normal life out of gear in Kashmir Valley. The surface and air links remained suspended between the Valley and the rest of the country for the past three days. In view of rain and snowfall at various places along Jammu-Srinagar national highway no traffic will be allowed on the road today.
The travelers have been asked to contact Traffic Control Units at Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu and officers of Traffic wing to get the status of the road. Kashmir University has postponed all its exams till Sunday.
The weather is likely to improve from today though Met department predicted light to moderate rains today across Valley and other areas.
