Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today filed civil defamation suit against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal & 5 other AAP leaders in Delhi High Court for making “false and defamatory” statements against him.

Mr. Jaitley seeks Rs 10 crore damages from the AAP leaders for making “false” statements against him over alleged irregularities in Delhi and District Cricket Association, DDCA case.

Meanwhile, BJP has taken note of party MP Kirti Azad’s repeated remarks against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged irregularities in Delhi and District Cricket Association(DDCA). Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said this while replying to a media query outside Parliament today. Another Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi termed the allegations against Mr. Jaitley as baseless. He said BJP is a disciplined party and it will take step against the MP at an appropriate time.

Meanwhile, Kirti Azad dared Arun Jaitley to file defamation case against him too. Mr. Jaitley filed defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today for making allegations against him in connection with irregularities in DDCA.

 

Jaitley denies irregularities during his tenure as DDCA chairman

Finance Minister  denied irregularities in the construction of Firozshah Kotla cricket stadium during his tenure as chairman of DDCA. Intervening in a Zero Hour mention in the Lok Sabha, Mr Jaitley charges leveled by the opposition are baseless.

The Minister said, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has already scrutinized the expenditure of 114 crore rupees incurred on the construction of the stadium and found no financial irregularities. Mr Jaitley said the stadium with a capacity of 42 thousand spectators was constructed with 114 crore rupees only but during the UPA tenure Dhyan Chand and Jawahar Lal Nehru stadiums were renovated at much higher costs.

Congress member K Venugopal demanded constitution of Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the alleged irregularities. He also demanded Minister’s resignation in the case. Kirti Azad of the BJP said instead of demanding JPC, the Congress should seek time bound probe in the case. Later, the Congress staged a walk out from the Lok Sabha.

 

Delhi govt set up commission of inquiry to probe DDCA irregularities
Meanwhile Delhi cabinet today approved setting up of commission of inquiry to probe the alleged irregularities in DDCA. In a tweet, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, govt has also called for one day special session of assembly tomorrow to discuss the alleged scam and CBI raid at Delhi Secretariat. The one member commission of inquiry will be headed former Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium.
