cycloneDepression over South East Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Deep Depression and a pre-cyclone watch for Andhra Pradesh Coast and is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hrs.

The deep depression unleashed its furry in the city and south Andaman region last night. Under the influence of depression strong east to southeasterly gusting at 60 Kmph.

As per Met Office, the depression is 310 Km northwest of Car Nicobar and 260 km Southwest of Port Blair. The depression is very likely to move northward in next 12 hours, and then northeastwards towards Andhra Pradesh Coast during subsequent 4 days.

The Andaman Nicobar Administration is fully gear up and is taking all measures to provide relief to the people of Andaman Nicobar Islands the tourist present in the Islands.
Four ships of Indian Navy of Andaman Nicobar Command which sailed yesterday to evacuate the standard tourist from Havelock could not complete their task due to bad weather and return back to Port Blair.

Today if the weather permits, then again all the ships will proceed to Havelock Island. Meanwhile the Lt. Governor of Andaman Nicobar Islands, Professor Jagdish Mukhi held a high level meeting at Raj Niwas yesterday to review the cyclonic situation and relief operation being carried out by different departments of the Administration.

He directed the concerned department to ensure timely response and coordinated. Though, no major damages were reported to life and property in the Islands and the situation seems to be under control. Due to bad weather conditions the school and colleges will remain closed today while the Shipping and Helicopter Service is also affected.
