Cyclonic Storm Fani is likely to cross Odisha coast near Satapada in Puri district on Friday afternoon with maximum sustained wind speed of 175-185 kmph gusting to 205 kmph.

The Bhubaneshwar Met department said the cyclonic is likely to cause damage in as many as nine districts of Odisha after its landfall.

The Met office also said after landfall, it is likely to pass through Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts before entering into West Bengal. It has issued Red Warning for several districts including Ganjam, Gajapati and Jagatsinghpur, where the extensive damages are predicted. Talking to AIR, IMD Director-General, KJ Ramesh said,

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has asked the district administrations to keep their machinery in full preparedness and take all required measures well in advance.

In view of the cyclone, the State Government has asked 20 ODRAF units, 335 fire services units and 18 NDRF units along with 300 rescue boats on standby.
