Hit street against mob lynching

TIA NEWS
Even as many political parties and organisations are merely issuing statements from drawing rooms against growing incidents of lynching and mobcracy of cow vigilantes and other Hindutva forces, the comrades of CPI-ML have started hitting the streets to check the unbridled Gau rakshaks who are bent upon killing innocent people in the name of Gau sewa.

Large number of CPI-ML workers took to streets in various cities to give a tough message to Gau Rakshaks. Several CPI-ML leaders and members were seen protesting at the streets of various cities. In Giridih, where the party has a strong presence called on for a bandh. In recent times, Giridih has witnessed a sudden rise in cases of lynching.

Recently, a dairy farmer Alimuddin Ansari, survived after being lynched by a mob and a tribal, Motilal Baske had been killed in alleged fake encounter. The bandh called by CPI-ML was to condemn both the cases. About eight rallies was lead by former MLA Vinod Singh, Rajesh Yadav and Rajesh Sinha. CPI-ML had also organised protest marches in Jharkhand capital Ranchi and Garhwa district.

A protest march was also conducted in Pratapgarh, CPI-ML backed the people’s protest, where one of its party member and social activist Zafar Khan, was allegedly lynched by Pratapgarh’s Municipal officials. The massive protest which had a large number of women demonstrated before Pratapgarh Municipal office also. Khan was killed, when he had tried to stop municipal officials from clicking pictures to shame the women who were defecating in open.

Mohammad Akhlaque, Majlum Ansari, Imteyaz Khan, Pehlu Khan, Sheikh Naim, Mohammad Halim, Mohammad Sajjad, Uttam Verma, Ganesh Gupta and now Zafar Hussein. The previous cases of lynching in UP, Jharkhand or Rajasthan were typically all triggered by orchestrated ‘rumours’ – whether of beef consumption, cattle-lifting or child-lifting.

There was however no rumour that led to the lynching of Zafar Hussein at Pratapgarh in the early morning of June 16. Zafar had to pay with his life for trying to defend the dignity of poor women from Kachchi Basti, Mahtab Shah Colony, Pratapgarh. He is perhaps the first victim of the Modi government’s flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
