The CPI-M today gave call to all the Left forces and other parties to unite and unseat the Trinamul government from Bengal and remove the BJP-led government from the Centre.
At the third CPI-M Plenum which began in Kolkata today with top party leadership also gave call to the people at a huge public rally to overthrow Mamata government in state.
One after the other, party leaders, starting from general secretary Sitaram Yechury to former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and the veteran Bengal leader Biman Bose– all repeated the one line slogans that called for removal of the Trinamul regime to save Bengal and Narendra Modi’s BJP government from Delhi to save India.
Alleging that both the Congress and the BJP parties had similar anti-poor economic policies to tow, the CPI-M leaders also called for all the ‘right-minded people’ to come with the Left forces in order to provide alternate policies and power to the people needed to run the nation which is going through a very bad phase. The party Plenum will work on this during the next four days, Mr. Yechury said.
Taking a swipe at the frequent foreign visits of PM Narendra Modi at the rally, the CPI-M general secretary asked what type of talks Mr Modi wants with Pakistan by suddenly visiting PM Nawaz Sharif, when one cannot listen to Ghulam Ali in Mumbai or their cricketers cannot play in India. The RSS in a fresh attempt to instigate religious divide made a statement only yesterday that India, Bangladesh and Pakistan will be united again, one day, Mr. Yechury said.
Party leaders Brinda Karat and Md. Salim came out with most scathing attack on chief minister Mamata Banerjee for her party’s alleged misrule in Bengal. Mrs. Karat said, West Bengal has topped the crime charts for rape and murder under its woman CM. The Reds cannot be done away from Bengal by re-painting the city landmarks in blue and white, she added.
Md. Salim said a tacit understanding with PM Modi is not going to save Mamata and Trinamul Congress from getting punished for its Saradha scam sins. We have gathered here with a resolve to remove and punish the Trinamul MLAs, MPs, ministers and the CM who have swindled Saradha funds saved by very poor people for a rainy day, Mr. Salim said.
Tripura CM, Manik Sarkar and Kerala CPI-M leader K. Balkrishnan attacked the Modi government at Centre and the UDF regime in Kerala respectively. Mr. Sarkar said the nation was not doing good economically when the thousands of vacant posts in the Central government were being abolished amid huge unemployment of the youth. He said, in order to dislodge the Trinamul Congress from power in Bengal, the Left parties should broaden their circle and accommodate Trinamul dissidents in their own support base.
Huge number of CPI-M supporters gathered in Kolkata to attend the rally. Leaders including Biman Bose, Md. Salim and Surjyakanta Mishra alleged that many party supporters were attacked and injured by Trinamul activists on way to Kolkata. The administration also tried their best to create further hurdles for the rally goers by closing bridges and turning roads into one-ways without an prior notice.
Over 400 leaders including the Politburo and central committee members are attending the five-day party Plenum beginning today in the city. The Plenum will help in formulating steps to streamline and strengthen the Party in the changed political context and enable CPI (M)’s turn around prior to a very important battle-the Assembly elections in West Bengal, party leaders have said.
