President Murmu Urges CPES and IES Officers to Drive India’s Growth and Inclusive Development

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said that officers of the Central Power Engineering Service (CPES) and the Indian Economic Service (IES) are at the forefront of India’s growth and will play a crucial role in building a stronger, self-reliant nation through policy-making and reform implementation. She urged them to work with dedication and passion, emphasizing that their efforts must promote inclusive and sustainable development.

The officers called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier in the day.

Addressing CPES officers, the President described electricity as a key driver of industrial growth, innovation, improved living standards, and overall socio-economic development. She noted the service’s significant contributions to power generation, transmission, and distribution, while ensuring quality, reliability, and safety. She added that CPES officers will play an important role in strengthening the country’s power infrastructure through sound engineering practices and innovation.

Speaking to IES officers, President Murmu highlighted the growing importance of economic planning in a rapidly changing global and domestic environment. She said their role will be vital in ensuring sustainable growth, managing inflation, creating employment opportunities, and reducing inequalities. Emphasizing a people-centric approach, she advised officers to remember that behind every statistic is a human story, and that the true success of economic policy lies in improving the lives of citizens, especially the most vulnerable..
