Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said, cow and cattle smuggling has considerably come down in the Indo-Bangla boder due to the prompt action and efforts are on to bring it down further.
Mr Singh was speaking at a function in New Delhi organized to pay tribute to spiritual leaders and people who were killed during a protest against cow slaughter in 1966.
He said, the Home Ministry has written to various states asking them to clamp down on cattle smuggling. He said, the BSF has been asked to be more alert regarding cattle smuggling.
The Minister said, many states like Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jharkhand have completely banned cow slaughter.
