In Gujarat, the total number of positive cases for COVID-19 has gone up to 13 with six fresh positive cases reported today in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said, of the six new cases, two are from Ahmedabad and one each from Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat.
Mr Rupani said, out of the 13, 12 infected patients have foreign visit history while only one case which was found in Surat today is a case of local transmission of COVID-19.
The Chief Minister announced to set up Isolation Wards in hospitals of four cities namely Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat, if the spread continues.
He also said, the 1,200-bed new civil hospital in Ahmedabad will be kept for isolation of COVID-19 patients. He said, four Secretaries have been assigned the responsibility of one district each to coordinate the overall efforts of the State Government to combat COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research sanctioned laboratory facilities for Surat and Bhavnagar in view of increasing positive cases in the state.
