The number of COVID 19 cases has breached the 11000 mark with steep increase in cases since the last few days in Karnataka. Medical education minister Dr.K Sudhakar has said that 10,000 beds will be available for COVID patients in Bengaluru.
Addressing media persons online, he said 30 to 50 percent of people tested in the city are reported positive since the last three days and the Government will identify locations to set up 10,000 beds by Monday evening to accommodate surging positive cases.
He informed that officials are working at war footing to identify suitable locations to set up COVID Care Centres and COVID treatment centres in the city. The minister said auditoriums, hostels, housing and big commercial complexes are being identified to set up the centres. The private hospitals with COVID treatment facilities are being asked to reserve 50 percent of their beds for the Government.
