The counting of votes has begun for Delhi’s three municipal corporations – North, East and South – which went to polls on Sunday. Till last reports BJP was leading in 145, Aam Aadmi Party in 43, and Congress in 27. The result of 270 wards of three Municipal Corporations are expected by the afternoon.

A total of over 2500 candidates are in the fray whose political fate will be known. The polling saw a voter turnout of 53.58 per cent that was marginally higher than 2012 figure of 53.43. Our correspondent reports that the election is crucial for all the three major political contenders BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.
