Markets in Delhi will remain closed for three days from tomorrow in view of the outbreak of novel coronavirus, which has claimed at least four lives in India and affected over 200 others.

Prominent trade leaders of different parts of Delhi decided to close business establishments in Delhi for the next three days.

“The markets in Delhi will remain closed on March 21, 22 and 23. The trade leaders will review the situation on the evening of March 23 and will decide actions for the future,” the Confederation Of All India Traders said in a statement.

The trader organisation has exempted the chemist shops, dairy and general consumables from the shut down for the convenience of citizens for procuring their daily requirements.

“The traders are committed to extending all possible help to the government in containing novel coronavirus from community transmission,” Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary-General, CAIT said.

Novel coronavirus or Covid-19 has claimed over 9,000 lives across the world and has affected at least 2 lakh people across the globe. As per the latest data, India has registered 242 cases with four deaths.
