VENKAIAH NAIDUUnion Minister for Urban Development and Information & Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu today said, the controversy over Triple Talaq was baseless. In an interview to the Doordarshan News in Kochi  Mr. Naidu said that the Union Government’s aim is to ensure justice to Muslim women in the country.

He said, the Government has conveyed its stand on the matter to the Supreme Court as called for by the apex court. Mr. Naidu cautioned that the issue need not be linked with the Uniform Civil Code.

Later, the Minister addressed the Official Language Advisory Committee of the Urban Development Ministry in Kochi and reviewed the progress in the use of Hindi. The Minister who is on a day’s visit to Kochi will also review the progress in implementation of various Centrally sponsored schemes like the Swachch Bharat, Smart City, Amrut, Hruday and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the State.
