The Congress party president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, has approved the suggestions to create two more organisational departments in the party.
Accordingly, she has appointed Dr Shashi Tharoor, MP, as chairman of the All India Professionals Congress.
Also, Mr Arbind Singh and Mr Irfan Alam have been appointed as chairman and vice chairman, respectively of the All India Unorganised Workers Congress, according to the party general secretary and MP, Mr Janardan Dwivedi.
Meanwhile, Mr Digvijaya Singh has been relieved of responsibilities as general secretary in charge of party affairs in Telengana. Mr R C Khuntia is new in charge and he will be assisted by secretary, Mr Satish Jharkiholi.
