West Bengal Pradesh Congress president, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today announced a list of 75 state assembly constituencies for which the party will field its candidates. He, however, did not release the names of the party candidates. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Chowdhury said that Congress is aiming to fight on about 100 seats in the elections to be held during April-May, spread over in six voting phases.

This will be done in accordance with the party’s grass- root workers’ desire to go to the polls with an electoral understanding with the Left Front, he added. The Pradesh Congress chief said that talks on sharing the seats with the Left leaders are still on but there will be a friendly fight with the Left on Hariharpara and Domkal seats in Murshidabad district.

Mr. Chowdhury, however, informed that party spokesperson, Om Prakash Mishra will be the Congress candidate on Bhawanipur seat in Kolkata against the outgoing chief minister, Mamata Banerjee. Party candidates will contest on Jorasanko, Bidhan Nagar, Chowringhee, Ballygunj, Rash Bihari, Madhya Howrah and Uttar Howrah seats in and around Kolkata as per the list released today.
