Congress party on Saturday accused Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav of keeping mum over communal clashes in Bijnore in which four people from minority community have been killed.

bijnoreCongress said that it is sad that Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in his hurriedly-convened press conference did not utter a word on the communal riots, which have taken place in Bijnor district.

“The SP claims to be helping people by its schemes. But, it is surprising that the CM or SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav did not speak a word on the Bijnor communal clashes. In fact the current state government took almost four-and-half years to bring its house in order and also the law and order (in its own house),” Congress leader RPN Singh told media.

Expressing apprehensions over the recent Bijnor communal clashes, RPN said that the circumstances suggest that the BJP and SP may try to repeat a Muzaffarnagar-like communal clashes in Bijnor. “The BJP is trying to take advantage of this situation, and this may foment communal clashes in Bijnore,” the former Union minister said.

“In the past four-and-half years, UP has seen four-and-half chief ministers. The goonda elements are riding the cycle. And the CM says it is not ‘Parivaar ki Ladaai’. When the entire family is the government, then it is not the ‘sarkaar ki ladaai’ (fight of the government) and eventually boils down to fight within the family (‘pariwaar ki ladaai’).” he said.

He further stated that the act of re-inducting corrupt ministers is a drama, while hinting at the re-induction of former mining minister Gayatri Prajapati.

Singh while accusing his political rivals (BJP, SP and BSP) of resorting to casteist and communal politics, said that so far the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has covered 2,500 kilometres in his Kisan Yatra. “Rahul Gandhi’s politics is based on humanity, education, irrigation facilities, safety and security of the public, unlike the political rivals,” RPN said.
