A delegation of Congress leaders from Karnataka Saturday met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and demanded immediate appropriate action on Governor H R Bhardwaj’s report to the Centre. The delegation included KPCC President G Parameshwar and the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Siddaramiah, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative council, Motamma, senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes and other state leaders.
On the other hand BJP organised rallies at several places in the Karnataka protesting against Governor’s recommendation for President’s Rule and for not clearing Cabinet decision to hold Assembly session from the June 2.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa led the anti-Governor rally and charged that the opposition for exerting pressure on the Governor and the Centre, to topple his Government.
Holding placards, Recall Governor and save Karnataka slogans by BJP workers ranted the air in the rally. The Chief Minister charged that the Congress which faired poorly in all the elections from Panchayat to Lok Sabha is now bent upon destabilizing his Government.
He pointed out that BJP government enjoys absolute majority but still there are efforts to dislodge it. He emphasized that Governor should be recalled to save the Constitution. He also accused former Prime Minister Deve Gowda of acting against the interests of the state. In Mysore, BJP state President K S Eeshwarappa led the rally.
