Combing operations are underway today to sanitise the air base in Pathankot, even as all the six terrorists who attacked there on the morning of January 2nd were killed by security forces. Airbase was under siege for four days after terrorists struck the forward installation, which is about 25 kilometers from international border with Pakistan. Sources said NIA Chief Sharad Kumar may reach at airbase at any time to supervise the probe into the attack on the IAF air base.
The NIA has taken over the probe into the Pathankot attack after registering three FIRs – lodged in connection with murder of the Innova driver, abduction of SP Salwainder Singh and his companions and the attack on the air base.
BSF team is already on the border segment near Pathankot to find out by which way terrorists sneaked into India. A stream near village Bamial which is adjacent to the border is considered the way adopted by terrorists and BSF is collecting the facts.
