The Civil Aviation Ministry today said that the Cockpit Voice Recorder of the Learjet 45 aircraft, which crashed in Baramati last month, sustained thermal damage. The Ministry said that, as the recorder was manufactured by Honeywell, technical assistance has been sought from the State of Manufacture.
The Ministry reiterated that the investigation into the Learjet 45 aircraft crash in Baramati last month is being conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). It said that the preliminary report on the Baramati aircraft crash investigation will be issued within 30 days of the occurrence as per ICAO norms, and the final report will follow in due course.
The Ministry informed that the aircraft was equipped with two independent flight recorders. It added that the Digital Flight Data Recorder, manufactured by L3 Communications, has been successfully downloaded at the AAIB’s facility in New Delhi. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with four others, was killed in the Baramati air crash on 28th of last month.
