Addressing a press conference after the two-day Maritime State Development Council Meeting here on Tuesday, Union Minister of Shipping G K Vasan said all ports dealing with EXIM cargo would install Vessel Traffic Management System for security purpose.

On the Port Regulatory Authority Bill, he said it would be proposed only after thorough consultations with state governments. The minister said the port capacity of the country would go up three times more than it was at present as per the Maritime Agenda 2020.

Stating that the tonnage would increase four times, the minister said 2 more major ports would be set up, one on east coast and another on west coast. He further said the Environment requirements would be met for the new port proposals and the technical studies would be held for the same soon.
