New Delhi– Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met the Union Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here and urged them for an early release the special packages for drought relief for the farmers of the State.

It may be mentioned here that the State had submitted a Memorandum in October requesting for the Special Package for the State on account of severe drought. In the Memorandum an amount of Rs. 4420.39 cr. was demanded.

Special team constituted by Central Government visited the state in the month of November 2015 to assess the extent of crop damage. Chouhan said that states like Karnataka, Orissa and Chhattisgarh have received the special package for drought in their respective states and informed that the

special team of central Agriculture Ministry has already submitted their report to the Home Ministry for further action. He urged the Union Home Minister to call an early meeting of High Level Committee to decide the Relief Package and early disbursal of relief to the state.

The CM apprised the Union Ministers of the steps taken by state government to handle the drought relief operation and compensate the farmers
for their crop loss. The State Government has paid the electricity bill of farmer to the power companies to the tune of 375 cr.

Both the Union Ministers assured the Chief Minister for calling an early high level meeting so that an early relief amount is released to the state at the earliest.
