Clashes erupted in Pulwama town Saturday after the news of death of three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants in a gunfight reached the area.

Security forces lobbed tear smoke shells to disperse the youths who resorted to stone pelting.

Three militants died in a gunbattle in the wee hours today at Panzgam village of Awantipora area in the district.

According to reports thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers and last rites of the slain militants who were buried at their native places in Pulwama district.

The normal life has been affected in the district. A boy was injured after an unexploded grenade went off at the encounter site in the district.

Authorities suspended train services between Banihal and Srinagar for a day to prevent public protests against the death of three militants. The situation was reported tense in the district.
