Prez, VP, PM greet people on Easter
Christians all over the world are celebrating Easter today with special church services, music, candlelight, flowers and the ringing of church bells. Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the people on the occasion.
In his message, Mr Mukherjee said the blessed celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ will be a time of renewal and rejuvenation, filling the hearts with new hope, peace, love and happiness. He called on people to follow the inspiring example of Jesus Christ and dedicate themselves to the service of the weak and downtrodden.
Vice President Hamid Ansari said, the joyous occasion reminds people that truth always triumphs and love is stronger than hatred. He called upon people to celebrate Easter by being compassionate towards fellow human beings and by strengthening the bonds of unity and fraternity amongst all.
In his message, the Prime Minister said this day further the spirit of harmony and brotherhood in society. Mr Modi said, the teachings of Jesus Christ inspire entire humanity to create a world that is just, compassionate and joyful.
