Beijing has responded positively towards setting-up a Hotline between Military Headquarters of India and China as part of their efforts to improve border security.
Talking to media persons after holding talks with his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan in Beijing yesterday, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the issue would be closed within one or two months.
Parrikar said China has returned the draft of the memorandum on establishing the hotline to improve border management between the two countries. The two countries are discussing the measures to address tensions arising out of aggressive patrolling by both sides.
Chinese Foreign Minister suggested that the two sides strengthen defence exchanges and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility of the border areas.
Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission Fan Changlong also met Mr. Parrikar. Mr. Fan said China is willing to strengthen military-to-military cooperation to contribute more to peace, stability and prosperity of the two countries.
