China today called for immediate suspension of deployment of the THAAD missile defence system in South Korea. A Foreign Ministry spokesman said China’s position is clear-cut and firm and urged relevant sides to immediately stop the deployment. He said, Beijing will firmly take necessary measures to uphold its interests. The comments came hours after Washington confirmed that the shield was now operational in South Korea.
